Esta estilizada silueta del toro de lidia fue creada en 1956 por Manolo Prieto de la agencia Azor para promocionar el brandy Veterano del grupo Osborne. Lucían orgullosos en muchos promontorios junto a las carreteras que atravesaban territorio español, hasta que a partir de 1988 el tema empezó a politizarse. Tras diversas vicisitudes, en 1994 fue declarado patrimonio cultural y artístico de España por el Congreso de los Diputados. Actualmente existen 92 toros distribuidos por la mayor parte del territorio español. junto a las carreteras que atravesaban el territorio español, hasta que después de 1988 el tema comenzó a politizarse.
