As a child I was inspired by the James Herriot books, and loved watching the TV series 'All Creatures Great and Small' with my family on a Saturday night.

Recently while on vacation in North Yorkshire with my partner and our dog I was able to visit the area where James Herriot lived and worked as a vet, and also some of the remote filming locations from the TV series, most notably the 'water splash' featured in the opening credits, and 'Skaledale House' in Askrigg the (fictional) veterinary practice.

Also inspired by the story of 'The Yorkshire Shepherdess' we visited Clive and Amanda Owen and their 8 children (#9 due!) who live the dream on their wonderful traditional farm 'Ravenseat' in the same remote area.

Very special and memorable moments captured here solely using the excellent Samsung Alpha smartphone and edited using some clever features with iMovie. Music is from the original TV series of 'All Creatures Great and Small' by the late Johnny Pearson
