This is a truly remarkable tree, that this picture does not do justice. This old beech tree looks like it has literally crawled up the wall of the high altar ruins of Bayham Old Abbey.

I would have loved to have taken a far better image than this, but thanks to the English Heritage website time being an hour out from the actual closing time I only had 5 minutes to grab some shots before the gates were locked. A place to revisit again and again.

I also notice this fine tree is on the shortlist for The Times - Tree of the Year.
