After emerging from the entrance tunnel of the outer defensive rampart of Fort Scoveston (see previous image) the guard house is visible through the overgrown vegetation.
Liked this one particular exposure, for the natural greens against the decaying stone and brickwork, so decided no HDR treatment was necessary.

Almost entirely concealed in the landscape, the sheer size of this 1860 hexagonal 'Palmerston' fortification of Fort Scoveston is awe inspiring. The main entrance shown here is accessed by a completely hidden bridge that spans a 36 ft wide escarpment. It's only when walking around the outside edge does nature offer up an occasional glimpse of the ramparts and stone wall of the escarpment (some 22 ft deep).
