To the men of Brādwic, food for winter is more important, and their hidden storage, in which some might expect to find gold, keeps salted meat and fish, sacks of grain, and fruits and vegetables.
It is not yet October, but political tensions following the death of Edward the Confessor & the crowning of Harold Godwinson at the beginning of the year are reaching a fever pitch, and Harald Hardrada of Norway & Duke William of Normandy plan to invade to contest the throne. Such things give cause for worry, and so it is that the men of Brādwic hide their year's bounty.
