I've been doing a little Instagram project titled 'Every Building on Back Crescent Street' after Ed Ruscha's 'Every Building on the Sunset Strip'. This is an attempt to photoshop something of the b&w 'feel' of Ruscha's work into the phone camera images.

I did a quick Instagram project last month titled 'Every Building on Back Crescent Street'. It was based on Ed Ruscha.s iconic 'Every building on the Sunset Strip'. While Ruscha's drove along Sunset Strip with a motorized Nikon camera mounted on the back of a pick-up truck, I walked down Back Crescent Street, Morecambe with my Nokia phone. We both photographed every building we came across.

While Ruscha's topographical study helped change the way people viewed art photography, my Instagrammed and partly Facebooked project garnered a tiny but much appreciated amount of critical aclaim, thanks Greg and Fernando, and not a little amount of hilarity and puzzlement. I'm claiming it as a success, after all didn't Ruscha once say "Art has to be something that makes you scratch your head,"

With that success in mind I've decided to continue the project to it's logical conclusion. Ruscha produced a self-published, leporello style book of his images, I intend to produce a self- published blurb-style book of mine. 1st editions of Ruscha's work are rare and valuable, around £5,000 for a decent copy. I imagine 'Every Building on Back Crescrent Street' to be even rarer, with expected sales of 1 or less, depending on whether I can find someone to buy it for me.

This photo is the first of the project. It depicts the easternmost building on the north side Back Crescent Street.
