Earlier in the summer I had noticed the photographic and aesthetic possibilities in shipping containers, the steel boxes used to transport goods by road and sea. Except the containers I had my eye on weren't to be found on decks and trailers of the ships and trucks transporting goods around the world.

As I travelled with my kids to the various athletic venues where they compete I noticed how the clubs use shipping containers to store their equipment. They provide relatively cheap, weathertight and secure storage for often bulky items right next to the track where they are used.

By the time the "Just One Thing" project was announced I had already taken a handful of shipping container photographs at various tracks and stadiums around Lancashire. To fit with the Utata ethos that project photos should be new and form a coherent series, I decided to incorporate as many "Just One Things" as possible into the new photos for the project.
