The reservoir at Göscheneralp, Switzerland. The fabulous colour of the water is due the lake being fed by glacial runoffs. .

A wonderful couple of days in the high mountains of central Switzerland, guided and accompanied by friends old and new.

A huge, surreal, man-made landscape softened by the mountain mist. The dam at Göscheneralp, an immense construction that dominates this beautiful valley.

When I first saw photographs of the reservoir at Göscheneralp I found it hard to believe the water was this rich, creamy colour.

Well, I can inform you it is true, the result of the silt-laden glacial runoffs that feed it. It looked to me as if it was filled with a beautiful turquoise paint.
