We were in Bath over the weekend and we visited the Roman Baths.
This lady took my eye. Her hairstyle dates her to the 1st century AD but she looked more 1970's to me.

This is a corner of the Georgian Pump House, built around the original Roman sacred spring of Sulis Minerva.
You can drink a glass of the spring water in the Pump House. It's quite warm, sparkly and eggy tasting and cured me of all my ailments :-)

This is the Great Bath where the Romans enjoyed the thermal waters of the sacred springs.
The waters looked lovely and inviting. I longed to dive in, but they don't like you even touching the water here because of the algal growth that gives it this green colour. There is a modern spa where you can bathe to your hearts desire, for a price.
Everything below the pillar bases, including the lead lining to the pool is original Roman. The pillars are a more modern reconstruction.
Thanks to miramann and her inspiring refections for this shot. Not up to her standard but I'm still a beginner :-)
