American Coots are neither ugly nor ducks - they're swimming Rails. I don't blame people for thinking they're not attractive, though, since they're so common and since it's so hard to see them up close, in good light. I needed a ton of patience and luck to get this shot. He spent 95% of his time preening and never came out from behind the bush, the whole time that I was there. He was so far away that I had no idea where his eye was.

This was only the second time that I've seen a Little Blue.

I don't know who was the most frightened and who was the most angry - the Snowy or the Cormorant.
I think that the Cormorant is nesting and the Snowy just flew in and started feeding and wasn't paying any attention to her, so she probably started it. I think she finished it, too, because she didn't move and the Snowy went back to feeding.

Anyway, this seems like an appropriate image for Halloween. Can you find the ghost bird? I didn't know it was there until I processed this image. Happy Halloween!
