I had never seen one of these before (that I know of), so finding the ID was a challenge, as it usually is for wildflowers. This one was all by itself, amongst a whole bunch of similar-looking plants, and I didn't have my camera with me when I first saw it, so I took out my iPhone and marked the flower's position, and was easily able to find it when I came back with my camera. Amazing things, these new smart-phones!
Just calibrated my monitor, using the tool in Windows 7, and things are looking a lot brighter now. ;-)

The single stem was hanging from a single spider web and behaving like a weather vane, as it twisted around its axis in response to the direction of the very slight breeze. Whenever I shoot, it seems that I always forget something, and on this occasion, it was that I had left my camera's ISO on automatic, so it was shooting at 3200, which created quite a bit of noise on a few of the shots, like this one, but I don't find it too objectionable, in that it adds a bit of color to the background and the single flower would have been blurry, had I shot at a slower speed. Besides, you have to look really hard, in large size, to even notice it here on Flickr, whereas it's pretty obvious when I look at the original, even after running it through Noise Ninja twice.
