This is my favorite view on the way home from work (the hotel, that is, not the woman, although she would be if she were there every day). This is the Hotel Del Coronado, one of the few 100+ year old buildings in California. There are four or five more condo buildings like the one on the left, which contrast the old and the new.

This is neither HDR nor Orton. This is my own new effect that I'm working on. Here's how I did it. First, I set my camera's DOF to 0. That way, I'm assured that there will be no place in the entire pic that's in focus. Then, I set the IS on my lens to -3. This adds shake to the camera, rather than removing it. Next, I misapplied the rule of thirds by composing the shot so that there is approximately 1/3 at the top, 1/3 in the middle, and 1/3 at the bottom.

(By the way, ISU stands for "I Screwed Up".)

The colors aren't too bad, though.

Image made at this pretty little park, next to the Naval Amphibious Base, where I work. Although it was raining on the way to work, this morning, it cleared up fast and it turned out to be a perfect day.

This is where we trained today. It's in Cuyamaca Rancho State Park, at the 4,000' (1,220m) level. Getting to train here is one of the main reasons we feel so privileged to be in Southwest Search Dogs. Cielo always enjoys this area. Today was another first for him, though, when he scared up a flock of wild turkeys. Contrary to the old WKRP in Cincinnati episode, turkeys do fly, at least wild ones do. Good thing he wears a bell on his search vest, or he might have caught one (and it could have hurt him ;-).
