This is neither HDR nor Orton. This is my own new effect that I'm working on. Here's how I did it. First, I set my camera's DOF to 0. That way, I'm assured that there will be no place in the entire pic that's in focus. Then, I set the IS on my lens to -3. This adds shake to the camera, rather than removing it. Next, I misapplied the rule of thirds by composing the shot so that there is approximately 1/3 at the top, 1/3 in the middle, and 1/3 at the bottom.
Best viewed small.
(By the way, ISU stands for "I Screwed Up".)
The colors aren't too bad, though.

This old oak tree didn't survive the 2004 Cedar Fire. So sad.
If you view this Large and look really closely on the left side of the trunk, you can see a rope swing. I don't know about you, but I wouldn't feel very comfortable swinging on a dead tree.

This tree is another casualty of the 2004 Cedar Fire. I thought it was beautiful in its own way, though, especially in the way that it caught the light.

This is where we trained today. It's in Cuyamaca Rancho State Park, at the 4,000' (1,220m) level. Getting to train here is one of the main reasons we feel so privileged to be in Southwest Search Dogs. Cielo always enjoys this area. Today was another first for him, though, when he scared up a flock of wild turkeys. Contrary to the old WKRP in Cincinnati episode, turkeys do fly, at least wild ones do. Good thing he wears a bell on his search vest, or he might have caught one (and it could have hurt him ;-).

Cuyamaca Rancho State Park, California: When I started shooting today, I didn't think there was going to be much color. After a while, though, I saw this clump of brush off in the distance. Guess I was wrong.
You really gotta see this on black!
