We saw a family of them from the shuttle bus, so I got off and went back to try to find them. I did, with little trouble, but only two of them. I later read that you're not supposed to approach them, because they can be aggressive. Well, this guy was obviously focused on something else besides me. I don't know what he was staring at, but he was very intent and he ignored me, for the most part.

But you should have seen the one that got away! Not a deer, actually, but a magnificent bull Elk. We saw him on a different shuttle bus, out the front window, as he was blocking our path. I had the wrong lens on my camera and debated with myself whether it was worth changing it, while he just stood there as if he was King of the Road, which he was. It would have been great to get a shot of him, but I debated too long and missed the chance, as he sauntered along the side of the bus, too close to shoot with any lens.
