In Piazza Baldaccio ,già detta del Mercatale ,è dal 1388 che ogni mercoledì si svolge il mercato .

In 1164,this corner of Tuscany was visited by Thomas Becket Archbishop of Canterbury, who obtained the coal cellars of the castle from the lords of Anghiari,where his escorts The "Spedalieri " of St. Antony,then built an oratory.
Later the church of St.Augustine was built on the site of the oratory in the 1200s and 1300s. It was enlarged in 1464 after its bell tower had collapsed .

Questo angolo di Toscana fu visitato nel 1164 dall'Arcivescovo di Canterbury Thomas Becket,che ottenne dagli allora signori di Anghiari ,le carbonaie del Castello,dove gli Spedalieri di St. Antonio,suoi accompagnatori costruirono un oratorio.
Sull'oratorio fu poi edificata (sec XIII-XIV )la chiesa di S.Agostino,ampliata nel 1464 in seguito al crollo del campanile .
