It has been named, "One of the most important museums in North America."

The International Museum of the Baroque was built in 2016 and designed by Japanese architect Toyo Ito. It is now fast becoming Puebla, Mexico's newest landmark.

The brightly decorated church on the hill is the Santuario de Nuestra Señora de los Remedios, the most famous landmark in Cholula, Mexico. What most people don't know is that the hill is actually Pirámide Tepanapa, the world largest pyramid (volume wise) and world's largest monument.

"There are so many constraints on the architect that public buildings almost never feel free or enjoyable." – Toyo Ito

My only regret is that I didn't take a "blue hour" shot of the museum so I guess a return trip to Puebla is in order!

Puebla has a large historic center with magnificent architecture that has resulted in it being named a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its city plaza or zocalo is the perfect place to sit at an outdoor café, drink an espresso and people watch. I would stroll through the zocalo every night and just admire all the illuminated Christmas decorations.
