The Pacific Islander Festival at Ski Beach along Mission Bay is one of my favorite events to photograph in San Diego. It has been a staple in San Diego for over 20 years, but this was only my 2nd year in attending it.

The Pacific Islander Festival at Ski Beach along Mission Bay is one of my favorite events to photograph in San Diego. It has been a staple in San Diego for over 20 years, but this was only my 2nd year in attending it.
It is a challenge to photograph the dancers since the lighting isn't optimal combined with their fast moving action. It is difficult at times to come away with tack sharp portraits, but in this case I got a winner.
The festival is a celebration of the cultures of the indigenous nations of Melanesia, Micronesia and Polynesia. It was an amazing weekend of food, dance performances and great photo opportunities!
