Over the last couple years I have been doing a mini-project of photographing historic neon street signs around various neighborhoods in San Diego. A couple of weeks I had dinner at Liberty Station and I noticed a new neon street sign, so of course I had to return for another evening to make a photograph.

Liberty Station is a 361-acre waterfront property located within the Point Loma community of San Diego. Its roots began in 1923 when the United States federal government opened it as the Naval Training Center. That would continued until it formally closed in 1997 and eventually the city of San Diego took ownership in 2000.

Today, Liberty Station is comprised of art galleries, locally-owned shops, trendy restaurants, entertainment, public parks and expensive single family homes.

I made this photograph as a reminder of the past, present and future of San Diego's storied history.

Thanks guys for all your views, comments and favs!

Happy Travels!
