About three hours north of Bogotá is the Spanish colonial town of Villa de Leyva. It is considered the best historically preserved and one of the most beautiful towns in Colombia.

The town’s central plaza (Plaza Mayor) is the largest in Colombia and perhaps in all of South America. With its cobblestone streets and whitewashed buildings, Villa de Leyva is a photographer’s dream.

One day I was wandering around town and I found myself in Parque Nariño. I started to photograph the statue, which was the centerpiece of the park, when these school children ran into the frame. This photograph spoke to me because of the dynamic, playful interaction of the three children.

Get out and play and never grow old!
