User / www.SamAntonioPhotography.com / The Imperial Beach Pier from a different perspective - San Diego, California
1,964 items
Sunny days and mild, year-round weather make San Diego’s beaches a world class destination. Winter in San Diego brings clear skies (no marine layer) and is the best time to photograph landscapes and seascapes

Imperial Beach is the most southwesterly city in the continental United States and borders the country of Mexico. If you were standing on the pier looking south you would get a clear view of Mexico only a couple of miles away.

Imperial Beach is the closest beach to my house and so whenever I want to photograph some seascapes I head down to their pier. I have always photographed the pier from the north side (see the photos in the comment section), but never from the south side. So I crossed under the pier to get a different perspective.

I am glad I did.

I was able to capture the pier as it was lit up in the warm, golden light of the setting sun (when I photograph the pier from the north side at sunset it appears as a silhouette).

A lesson learned.

Sometimes the best photographic tool is simply using your legs.

Check back for more of my photographs around my hometown of San Diego! Three more photos in the comment section.

Happy Travels!
