Here’s a unique Southern California holiday experience, outdoor ice skating while overlooking the Pacific Ocean with the sun setting.

The Hotel del Coronado is listed as a National Historic Landmark and has been the choice of 14 U.S. Presidents and numerous celebrities.

The Hotel del Coronado is spectacular to photograph anytime of the year, but in December and January the entire hotel is adorned with Christmas lights. In addition, the hotel sponsors special events such as ice skating on its oceanfront Windsor Lawn. All this makes for beautiful photographs to add to this special time of the year.

There was no Big Bay Boom firework show along San Diego Bay this year so I created my own! This is a photo of the San Diego skyline I took from the Coronado Ferry Landing (6/2/2020) and later composited the fireworks in post production. Happy Independence Day America!

"Unconditional Surrender" is a series of sculptures by Seward Johnson resembling a photograph by Alfred Eisenstaedt, V–J day in Times Square, but said by Johnson to be based on a similar, less well known, photograph by Victor Jorgensen.

Since the fireworks have been cancelled this year, I created my own! I made this photography (7/1/2020) when I saw this couple recreating the iconic pose of the “Unconditional Surrender” statue. I composited the fireworks in post production and thus you have life imitating art.

In light of today's social distancing, quarantine and self isolation, sometimes we all yearn for that human touch.

While taking a walk at night in Borrego Springs a couple of years ago, I came across these two dinosaurs in a fierce fight. I guess they were fighting over who would get the Milky Way candy bar.

Just two hours drive from San Diego is Anza-Borrego Desert State Park. The park occupies over 600,000 acres making it the largest state park in the lower 48 states. The desert comes alive in late February to early April when the wildflowers bloom, but it wasn’t just the wildflowers that brought me to the desert.

Located next to the state park is private land, called Galleta Meadows, which is free and open to the public. Here you will find 130 fully-sized outdoor metal sculptures by artist Ricardo Breceda. They vary from an enormous scorpion to fighting dinosaurs!

On March 11th of this year I traveled to the Philippines and ended up being quarantined in the country for two months. During that time I experienced many highs and lows. It was not easy watching momentous world events unfold as a traveler stuck in a foreign country not knowing when I could return home.

At times it was hard to keep positive, but I always reminded myself that it is not how you begin a journey, but rather how you end it that matters most.
