Rare Leucistic Anna's Hummingbird

Feeding on Swamp Bottlebrush (Beaufortia sparsa; Myrtaceae; Myrtle Family; southwest of Western Australia)

Yay! I finally got a "red, green and white" shot for my Christmas cards! =) Unless I get a better one, it will be a version of one of these two shots that I took yesterday!

I've been trying to get a "Christmassy" photo of "Snowy" for two months now and yesterday when I saw that the bottlebrush tree that he had been sitting in last weekend had some blooms on it this weekend, I was ecstatic!!

And one blossom on the bottom would be perfect for what I wanted and not be "cluttered' like the others would be if he would go to that one and I could get a good shot of him feeding at it!

There were lots of photographers getting great shots of him on the banksia while I watched this little tree and after 2 hours, he still hadn't fed on it. I told the other photographers that I was waiting for my "Christmas shot", so some of them came over by me and finally he went to the blossoms and to the one I wanted him to go to (Yay!) Myself and another photographer standing by me got shots of him at this blossom! It was the only time in the 4 hours that I waited there that he fed on this one! I tried again today for 6 hours and he went near it for about one second before chasing after another hummer in his territory! I wish I would've asked the other photographer what his name was or if he had a website, because it would've been fun to see his besides on the back of his camera! =)
