Adjacent farmland to the POST Cowell-Purisima Trail


Life is full of unexpected surprises! =)

After driving along Hwy 1 late this afternoon and stopping to take some ocean and cliff view shots with a friend that is also a photographer, I took this shot tonight right before sunset and it was one of the last shots I took before heading home for the day.

I was in my "trying too hard/perfectionist" mood today and had searched for the "perfect" ocean view shot and had taken several shots at each location we stopped at, but then it was getting late and almost time to leave since it would be dark soon and my friend and I made one last quick stop before the light was all gone.

We had about 20 minutes before the sun went down (in which I spent half of climbing over a fence to get some photos of some mustard flowers (that I don't even like how they turned out!) ) and I composed this one without much thought and took just this one shot (not several as I usually do and like I did of the ocean) and I get home and am hoping to find an ocean view shot that I took that I really like, but instead discovered that my favorite photo that I took today was not one of the ocean as I was hoping, thinking and expecting it to be, but was THIS one!!!

I thought I knew my own tastes and what I like to photograph, but I found out today that there is more there inside of me than what I thought I knew; I feel like I discovered some part of myself or another side of myself that I didn't even know I had. This doesn't even look like a photo that the "me" that I thought I knew would take!

I think I like the "side of me" that "saw" and took this photo though, and that's a nice feeling. =)
