Moraine Lake is a glacially fed lake in Banff National Park. It is situated in the Valley of the Ten Peaks. The lake, being glacially fed, does not reach its crest until mid to late June. When it is full, it reflects a distinctive shade of blue. The color is due to the refraction of light off the rock flour deposited in the lake on a continual basis.

It is too famous, almost no chance to get in due to parking lot full starting very early in the morning. But you could always try, if you were lucky coincidentally some cars left, the parking staff would let you in during daytime to sunset. After capturing the train at Morant’s Curve in the afternoon, tried my luck, got in during sunset time… There was a bit breeze, ripples on the water, not perfect reflection, the light was nice for a short time. The photo was captured by wide lens in one shot.
