Life is good, even though I’ve hit the bottom of the barrel financially, I do still have a place to live at least! Not a whole lot else right now and I’m grateful for food banks. Things have been a bit challenging lately, but I will get through, I always do. 🌈❤️. Friends just helped pay for my pro membership so I can keep my 30+ thousand photos active on here so I don't need to delete and just keep a small free account. I was pretty active for a lot of years and I would be OK with dropping back to FREE, but there’s some history and stories saved in here that I’d rather not lose. Does anyone know if downloading all your information includes all the post descriptions?
Thank you for your encouragement, especially my longtime Flickr friends who taught and supported me for many years. Folks like Jaap Cost Budde, and Don Briggs, who bought me my first and third DSLR cameras (both canon rebels,) at different times so that I could continue. Also, Rebecca, who sent me her old pro Cam when she upgraded. That was my second DSLR and it changed my life. I’ve been using that old Canon 5D Mark ii for about 10 to 12 years! That first Rebel Got used so much I wore out the shutter. Literally! It fell apart in the middle of a shot, on my way to the Redwoods with Larry Andreasen. I was sick about it. I had no idea that could even happen.

Under the veil of darkness along the picturesque Kalaniana'ole Highway on the coast of Oahu, an unforgettable scene unfolded. As the waves relentlessly crashed against the shore, a sense of fear and vulnerability enveloped the atmosphere. However, as I descended to the shoreline and set up my equipment, a magical transformation occurred. The vog, a haze from the active volcano on Hawaii, dissipated, revealing a canvas of velvety darkness overhead. In that moment, the celestial heavens came to life, and the Milky Way adorned the southern sky with its ethereal glow. The profound beauty of the night, accentuated by the stark contrast of the darkened skies, left an indelible imprint, turning a seemingly foreboding experience into a breathtaking encounter with the cosmos.
This is a single edited image using a custom D850 linear camera profile to edit this photo in Lightroom with custom curves (gamma, end-points, mid-tones, and local/global tone mapping contrast), and finished editing in Photoshop using Adobe Lossless RAW layers.
