when building my models from digital into real bricks, it was quite hard making out all the parts cause many i used digitally dont exist the needed colours or are super rare.
Still i didnt want "red" and "black" cars only like the usual stuff we see online (red is probably the only colour to come for almost every existing part).

Hence, i paid a lil extra to get hold of some brown + yellow bricks and a few chrome parts. IMO the chrome parts really improve the models quality/appearnce to the viewer. Its almost like looking at other brand scale models if you look from further away. I also have made model stands for them, so in case of presenting they dont look to "toyish" and have a more professional appeal.

hope u like em! feedback welcome :)
cheers.

Here it goes: My first own take at a SC car actually having the rims ad everything at hand thanks to the recent updates LDD did. The old "SC" Koenigsegg was rather city scaled, but back a year ago wasnt possible in LDD to do otherwise....

So i redid the whole thing, not quite sure about it in general, but at least its the right size to receive the SC title this time^^

giving you a scale comparison between the TLG bicycle and my new 1/42 scale motorbikes.

very interesting, possible fact for fans of minifigure scaling:

If we take the bicyle to have standard 28 inches tires (being 71,12 cm) , it proves that TLG's idea of Minifig scaling was about 1/42 in 1985 when the bicycle was introduced! (2 studs diameter = 70cm in 1/42) - that also explains why they did even smaller tires for their cars (being 1,8 studs in diameter) !

Looking at pictures, you will notice that car tires and motorbike tires are very close in size, while bicycle tires are a lot larger
Flickr: Explore!

My theory:

they gave up that 1/42 scale, because the playability and detail on vehicles was too low for them at the turn of 2000s. It also was too complicated to get the "looks" right when fitting the minfig in, cause when the fig is seated, all vehicles turned out "too high" and "wheels too small" because of its low hips^^ we see this here: images.brickset.com/sets/images/6530-1.jpg

Therefore, especially with Speed Champions theme, they enlargend the wheels and mudguards even more, so a "low and slim looking" car profile is being achieved while the fig can be sitting upwards directly.
Leaning figs back wasnt an option, since kids probably wont think of that for playing, neither find that realistic in their imagination (which i have to admit isnt^^ - if only they had a neck joint!).

Eventually, TLG seemed to have had troubles with the minifig issue themselves aswell - until Speed Champions was released - a very clever solution by whatever designer/designer team!
Or why release new mudguards intented for super low cars if they could have used the standard mudguard, being more scale accurate?

i expect to see the newer mudguards apart from the SC theme as a standard for city sets in a few years.

Side Effect:
Their Modulars Sets dont feature standard Cars (except for large vehicles like a fire wagon or a 50ies limousine which are easier to scale at) because of that very scaling reason!
I still believe that Modulars are scaled 1/42 intentionally, since they do contain those classic 1/42 bikes, classic doors and window frames originating from that 1980ies era (Corner cafe, Pet shop, bike shop and cafe...)

However, they felt the need to change their motorbike design, but not the bicycle, allthough the old motorbike was 1/42 scale aswell - coincidence?
alpha.bricklink.com/pages/clone/catalogitem.page?P=x81&am...[Riding%20Cycle]#T=C

I believe not, they enlargend the motorbikes to fit better to the cars they planned on making bigger in the future. But enlargen the Bicycle aswell would be to obviously wrong scaled, because "we" like to think of them being smaller (in height) then motorbikes because its literally just a frame and the design simply is too good to overthrow for a newer one. It also looks just perfect (since it is correct 1/42 ;-) )

Whoever designed that bicycle and old motorcycle in 1980ies did a very accurate job!

What do you think?
