This elegant little locomotive is very much an antique of the Victorian era. Built in 1872, Class A1 Terrier 0-6-0T No. 672 ‘Fenchurch’, was the first of its class to enter service on 7th September that year. The Terriers were a lightweight design, intended to give rapid acceleration on suburban trains of lightweight carriages on the 11-mile South London line, where stations were only about a mile apart.
