There have been some outstanding photos of this place from my friends over the past year. It is a place I wanted to visit but never seemed to get to, after seeing some outstanding shots from some fellow photogs from last weekend, I decided to make the trip. The sunset wasn't anything to write home about, but that mattered less for the 10stop filter.
I find having a copy of Chess on the iPhone useful for these shots, you can usually get a couple of rounds in while waiting for the exposure, I think this was in the 5 minute mark.
I tried the Lee BigStopper filter out here finally, I had been waiting for the adapters to arrive to attach the holder to my T/S E. If you're in the market for a 10stop, I recommend the BigStopper over the B&W screw on; there is no color cast with the Lee, finally something that England is better than Germany at! ;-)

I'm not sure about the placement of the window in this shot, but I wanted to keep the open door in the frame, so its what I got.
One thing I noticed about the Nolan house was the lack of broken windows, I don't recall there being one, I could be wrong and there was of course the kicked in front door, but I wonder if this explains the fairly good state of repair that the house is in - Fixing Broken Windows
The small building in the background is typical of what slave quaters would look like I believe, I didn't wander down there, but I read that one had been restored, the building in the photo may be that one.
Eight shot manual HDR (i.e. I altered the shutter speed by hand) with the 17-40L (as are all the shots of the Nolan House). I had to remove quite a few sun spots in Photoshop from this one due to shooting almost straight into the sun, BW conversion and processing done in Lightroom, masking of window done in Photoshop.
