This house is on the second row from the beach. Where there used to be a road is now sand, debris and people's possessions. All the houses were flooded.

Petrol tankers anchored off the New York coast (seen from Long Beach yesterday). Most gas stations are closed because they don't have electricity to power the gas pumps. Queues for gas are up to 3 kms long. Five emergency mobile gas stations were deployed around New York City by the military on Saturday, offering 10 free gallons per person. The stations will also supply emergency service vehicles with fuel.

To the left of this picture (out of the photo) is a marina. When the storm hit, the marina flooded and the boat was lifted onto the car park of the motel where it was left stranded when the water receded. There were many other boats scattered on either side of the road (see other photos).
