The Bishops Finger is a historic 16th century pub close to the Westgate Tower in Canterbury. It takes its name from a Shepherd Neame ale which, in turn, takes its name from the fingerposts sited along the Pilgrims Way in Kent to show the pilgrims the route to Thomas à Becket’s shrine in Canterbury Cathedral before it was destroyed by Henry VIII in the 16th century.
It's a great name for a pub, don't you think? :-)
