Cartwright Hall is the civic art gallery in Bradford. It is located about a mile from the city centre in the Manningham district. The purpose-built gallery was opened in 1904 with a collection of Victorian and Edwardian works donated by Samuel Lister, an English inventor and industrialist who invented the Lister nip comb. The Hall is named after Edmund Cartwright, the inventor of the power loom.
