We were fortunate to see woodland caribou a few times. They are resident and only migrate up and down the mountains in their range. A few were down early near Toad River on Highway 97

One day we used a helicopter to extend our range. These caribou are running over very soft ground that we found very difficult to walk on.

After the four bulls left, we stood around deciding what to do. The bulls that had disappeared behind us on our left,returned out of the woods on our right. They were quite curious and came close to check us out. The antlers are red from blood from recently shedding his velvet.

These four fellows didn's stick around for long. we had snow showers moving through about every fifteen minutes.
