I found this bird perched on a wire above me. The bird was skittish at first, but with slow approaches I was able to photograph it at a fairly close distance at eye-level. At one point, it actually threw up a pellet (not photographed, but can be seen in the last photo showing the moment before the pellet was expelled). With the browner colour overall, this bird is probably the first winter.

Wish everyone a wonderful weekend! Happy Thanksgiving to all Canadians!

So far I've seen quite a few warblers at Emily Murphy Park and Kinsmen area during my off work hours, but I have not photographed them successfully. While the 400/5.6L is a great bird-in-flight (BIF) lens, I find it fairly difficult to shoot songbirds in the dense wood areas with that lens because of the lack of stabilization and far minimum focus distance. I'm just not used to the lens yet. These Vireo shots are probably better than most of my other songbird shots I've been taking for the past weeks. I will post the other warbler shots soon.
