I was in the Vancouver and area most of last week and I concentrated mostly on landscape, street, and candid photography, and did not intend to photograph any birds. When it came to areas near the ocean I couldn't help but slapped on my 70-200/2.8 on my 5D2 and hoped for some interesting birds. The gulls were huge and loud compared to what we have in Edmonton. I also saw some tame Great Blue Herons in local ponds. European Starlings were also everywhere, and I was able to shoot them at 105mm on FF. Cormorants were flying near the docks and ferries. Finally, my lifer bird was gotta be the Mute Swan, which could be hand-fed. I'm sure there were more migratory birds, but again, my trip was more of about visiting and enjoying my time (and food :P) there rather than looking for birds.

This series will just be the gulls as I really like the featured photo (the gull looking down while in flight, the soft lighting, and a bit of ocean, landscape, and clouds in the background). As for the ID, I think it's a Western Gull 1st year. Please feel free to correct me on the ID. Enjoy!
