A couple of friends have designed and are now building these LED light boxes. Using 23 high power LED's it puts out an amazing amount of light! Nicely done too - remote control for the light level (in 1/6 f stops increment). Possibility to use diffusers, filters etc for controlling the light (in standard set up it is 5000 K).
Can handle up to 2 hours + in full power mode on battery alone, and can also run on AC and recharge the battery at the same time. Multiple 1/4" fittings for putting large arrays together for video productions.
I am going to use mine for table top shots - gives me at least 2.5 stops more light than the overhead skylights - which are solely dependent on Mother Nature for light! There are several manufacturers who make these lights or variations thereof - this is by far the best I have seen.
