We met many African sacred ibises (Threskiornis aethiopicus) in Kenya. There were two ponds close to our camp, where it was easy to photograph them.

They were really interesting to watch, both on the ground and in the air.

A young white-tailed eagle (Haliaeetus albicilla), that I met on a walk on Jæren this winter when it was about 9 months old.

It just sat there, resting for a long time. It was easy to see that it was called N1 L5 on its ring, so I registered it and was the first to do so.

It was ringed by an acquaintance of mine last spring, in a nest close to the town of Bryne (only about 10km further east). I guess it will find a new homeplace in a while.

When we entered Masai Marai on our drive from Nairobi last summer, the animals just suddenly were around us everywhere. It felt surreal, like we weren't ready yetッ

The first animals we met were zebras and giraffes, right by the road like this one.

I have seen giraffes both in western, southern and eastern Africa but haven't thought about them being different until I read about it yesterday.

There are actually 9 subspecies of them, and this is the Masai giraffe (Giraffa camelopardalis tippelskirchi). It is native to East Africa, and is the largest and darkest of the subspecies. Their spots are jagged and irregular.

One of several beautiful (male) linnets (Linaria cannabina) that keep coming to our bird feeder every day now.

They sing their lovely song a lot as well, both from branches and while eating. I've also photographed them flirting by feeding each other ツ

It's lovely to sit hidden in the car right outside the house, to enjoy and photograph them. Both since I haven't taken good photos of them before, and to get another focus when my health is crappy like today ♡
