Marta is located 106 km northwest of Rome on the southwest shore of Lake Bolsena. In the municipal territory there is the only outflow from Lake Bolsena, the little river Marta, which drains the lake into the Tyrrhenian Sea. Marta is located in a formerly volcanically active area called Apparato Vulsinio. Lake Bolsena itself was formed by the collapse of underground magma chambers.

An important economic sector is tourism. In Marta there is a modern fish breeding station to secure the basis for fishing in Lake Bolsena.

Marta liegt 106 km nordwestlich von Rom am Südwestufer des Bolsenasees. Im Gemeindegebiet befindet sich der einzige Ausfluss aus dem Bolsenasee, das Flüsschen Marta, das den See ins Tyrrhenische Meer entwässert. Marta liegt in einem ehemals vulkanisch aktiven Gebiet, dem sogenannten Apparato Vulsinio. Der Bolsenasee selbst entstand durch den Einsturz unterirdischer Magmakammern.

Wichtiger Wirtschaftszweig ist der Tourismus. In Marta steht eine moderne Fischaufzuchtstation, um der Fischerei im Bolsenasee die Grundlage zu sichern.

A Western windmill is a multi-bladed wind turbine mounted on a lattice mast with a vane for tracking the direction of the wind. This type of windmill, developed in North America in the second half of the 19th century, was and is mainly used as a pumping station drive (windpump) for irrigation and drainage, and later also for electricity generation.

After the end of the Second World War, Bavaria received about 3000 such wind turbines from the Americans as part of the Marshall Program, some of them produced in Germany. They were about 14 m high, always had 18 blades and each drove a piston water pump that was sunk into the ground in a shaft about 3 m deep. This is located near Bad Abbach.

Ein Western-Windrad, Texasrad, auch Western-Windmühle, ist ein auf einem Gittermast montiertes, vielflügeliges Windrad mit einer Fahne zur Windrichtungsnachführung. Diese in der zweiten Hälfte des 19. Jahrhunderts in Nordamerika entwickelte Windradbauart wurde und wird überwiegend als Pumpwerksantrieb (Windpumpe, englisch windpump) zur Be- und Entwässerung, später auch zur Stromerzeugung verwendet.

Nach Ende des Zweiten Weltkrieges erhielt Bayern im Rahmen des Marshallprogramms ca. 3000 solcher Windräder von den Amerikanern, teils in Deutschland produziert. Sie waren ca. 14 m hoch, hatten stets 18 Flügel und trieben jeweils eine Kolbenwasserpumpe an, die in einem ca. 3 m tiefen Schacht in der Erde versenkt war. Dieses steht in der Nähe von Bad Abbach.

Since the year 1964, Schlüter was specialized in tractors of the upper power range. At that time, that meant engines till 320 hp. Quite an exception in that era were tractors which obtained four tires of the same size, represented by the Super Trac series. The Profi Trac series were equipped with four equally sized tires, mounted on two steerable axles instead of just one. The rear axle of this Profi Trac tractors could steer in the opposite or same direction as the front axle, as well as steering not at all. In 1978, a unique specimen was built, the so-called Profi Trac 5000 TVL with 500 hp. At its appearance, it was regarded as the most powerful tractor of entire Europe. Later on, 184 Euro Trac were built, until the Schlüter company went bankrupt.
