Holzheim am Forst is a community between the Naab and Regen rivers in the Upper Palatinate district of Regensburg.
It includes the Blümelberg with the catholic chapel of St. John Nepomuk. This octagonal central building was erected in 1713 as a plague chapel.
Holzheim am Forst ist eine Gemeinde zwischen Naab und Regen im Oberpfälzer Landkreis Regensburg. Dazu gehört der Blümelberg mit der kath. Kapelle St. Johannes Nepomuk. Dieser achteckige Zentralbau wurde 1713 als Pestkapelle errichtet.

The sculpture "Goldener Waller" mimics the streamlined shape of a catfish, "Waller" in Bavarian. Figurative details such as fins and whiskers were neglected in favor of the idea of movement and the overall form.
The Golden Waller was erected 2019 and is located on a pedestal at the top of the Donaumarkt's outdoor staircase. The sculpture's almost free-floating form extends far out over the flight of steps. It is aligned so that the massive head of the fish sculpture rests on the plinth, while the sinuous body seems to float high above the stairs and slowly tapers towards the Danube.

Regensburg is located at the northernmost point of the Danube flowing in from the south, which after the confluence of the left tributary Naab is forced by the west-east range of the Winzerer heights to change its course to the east. In the urban area of Regensburg the Danube runs in two arms, between them lies the populated Danube island Oberer Wöhrd, on which this photograph was taken.
Regensburg liegt am nördlichsten Punkt der von Süden anströmenden Donau, die nach der Einmündung des linken Nebenflusses Naab vom West-Ost-Höhenzug der Winzerer Höhen gezwungen wird, ihren Lauf in Richtung Osten zu verändern. Im Stadtgebiet von Regensburg verläuft die Donau in zwei Armen, dazwischen liegt die besiedelte Donauinseln Oberer Wöhrd, auf der aus diese Aufnahme entstanden ist.

Yet another boat on the shore of a Danubian oxbow lake. A large part of the area near Pfatter and Wörth/Donau is a natural preserve and a retreat for birds and other animals. Thus, this district differs favorably from the agrarian steppe nearby.
