I managed to catch this Roman Snail head on which isn't easy amongst the grass at ground level. They can be found on chalk downland, their size and colour make them easily recognisable. They were certainly enjoying the damp weather at the weekend.

A speciality of downland habitat these large snails are always an interesting find. However, they're often difficult to photograph amongst the long grass. this one fortunately was more in the open.
