I visited the Marsh Frogs again at the weekend and this was the only one I managed spot. It took me a while see this individual and he was only a few meters away. As you can see they're well suited to their environment.

This one was sat right out in the open enjoying the sunshine it would seem. Even like this though they are quite difficult to spot. Marsh Frogs were introduced into a site in Kent from Hungary in 1935. They can now be found in rivers and ponds across the south east of the country.

This may be the same frog I encountered yesterday as it was in pretty much the same location. Marsh Frogs were introduced into a site in Kent from Hungary in 1935. They can now be found in rivers and ponds across the south east of the country.

I managed my best views yet of these secretive amphibians. I spotted this one through a tangle of branches, however, for such a large frog they are pretty hard to spot. I was lucky tonight as I finally got my first proper view and shot of a Marsh Frog. Although when I arrived there was the inevitable plop as a frog jumped into the water and swam away. I sat and waited and amazingly after about 15 mins some ripples appeared through the tangle of branches and I could see a head in the gloom. I managed to find a gap that enabled me to get a shot or two. I'll admit its a fairly heavy crop but its a start.
