This is the last in the my recent series of Stonechat shots. I've become rather fond of these endearing little birds in recent months, they are fascinating little characters imo.

There were a number of these lovely ducks on the gravel pit over the Christmas period. Amazingly on the same day 2 Jan I saw my first butterfly of 2015 a red admiral.

The grebes at Papercourt are always a draw at this time of year for me. I think I almost prefer their muted winter tones in the low winter sunlight to their striking summer plumage. Can't explain why really.

This is the same bird that's in the previous shot. She's spotted something on the ground and about to drop down after it. They seem to love these tall thin perches to survey their surroundings.

One the resident female stonechats at Papercourt Meadows. For some reason they seem easy to approach than the males. This is one of the first shots of the new year for me.
