Yesterday I decided, that I will not share the destination of my trip so fast. Instead, I will approach day by day a bit closer.
The land I am talking about, is a proud mariners nation with a history what is absolutely worth of beeing proud of. Today, fishing is still an important economic branch in many regions of the country.
I spend some hours in a fishing harbour to open myself for this special atmosphere here.
Like this fishing net, everything seemed to be totally chaotic there. But after a while I realised, that anything was on its place following its destiny.
Ich habe mich gestern dazu entschlossen, nicht so schnell zu verraten, wo das Ziel meiner Reise war. Stattdessen werde ich mich Tag für Tag ein Stück näher heran tasten.
Das Land, um was es geht, ist eine stolze Seefahrer Nation mit einer Geschichte, die es absolut wert ist stolz darauf zu sein. Auch heute noch ist der Fischfang ein bedeutender Wirtschaftszweig in vielen Regionen des Landes. Ich habe ein paar Stunden in einem kleinen Fischerei Hafen verbracht und die besondere Atmosphäre auf mich wirken lassen.
Wie dieses Fischernetz wirkte alles auf den ersten Blick völlig chaotisch. Doch nach einiger Zeit erkannte ich, dass alles seinen Platz hat und seiner Bestimmung folgt.

That my destination was is located by the sea, was quite obvious after my yesterdays post. But it’s not only by the sea, it's by an ocean. (there are not so many existing from them). Besides of higher frequented regions, you can also find here something like this. A kilometres long unpeopled beach. Absolutely dreamlike. Overall, I met not more than ten people here on that day.
Because of the absence of people as a standard of comparison, You can't see that the waves are at least 2 meters high. These dunes were quite impressiv.
Das mein Reiseziel am Meer liegt, ist seit dem gestrigen Post ja ziemlich offensichtlich. Doch es liegt nicht nur an einem Meer, es liegt an einem Ozean (von denen gibt es ja nicht so viele). Neben den etwas stärker frequentierten Regionen kann man hier auch so etwas finden. Ein Kilometer langer menschenleerer Strand. Absolut Traumhaft. Insgesamt habe ich an diesem Tag hier nicht mehr als 10 Menschen gesehen.
Durch die Abwesenheit von Menschen als Vergleichsmaßstab ist nicht zu erkennen, dass die Wellen bestimmt 2 m hoch sind. Die Dünen waren schon ziemlich eindrucksvoll.

When You are driving through the country I am talking about, leaving the main roads, You will find a lot of deserted buildings. These are most of the time former agriculture- and production buildings or farmhouses. But sometimes, You can find one of this precious objects.
This here is a pump station where they used a horse- ore ox-capstan (it's behind me) to pump water out of a huge cistern (on the left) into a net of brick built viaducts (in front). This way, they spread the water over the surroundings.
A fascinating place. I would love to know, when it was built.
Wenn Ihr durch das Land fahrt, von dem ich spreche und die großen Strasen verlasst, findet Ihr eine Vielzahl verlassener Gebäude. Meißt sind es alte Landwirtschafts- und Produktionsgebäude oder verlassene Farmen. Doch manchmal findet man auch solche Kostbarkeiten.
Dies hier ist eine Pumpstation, an der Mittels eines Pferde- oder Ochsen-Göpels (der befindet sich hinter mir) Wasser aus einer sehr großen Zisterne (links) in eine Netz gemauerter Viadukte (vorn) gefördert und so in der Gegend verteilt wurde. Ein faszinierender Ort von dem ich gern wüsste, wann er erbaut wurde.

I am happy, that my little guessing game was received so well. Some of You were so good, that they were correct right from the beginning, what did impress me a lot. Before I am going to show you the photographs, where it will be to obvious, I will tell You the solution today.
What attracted me first, when I drove up country were the forests, what were so different than the once I know from home.
There are forests as well, that are more plantations. But often it is looking like this here. Single trees or small groups are standing in a spacious terrain on dry ground with red soil. Two tree species are characterising these forests, pine trees and cork oak trees, giving this landscape its distinctive shape.
Because You know for sure, where most of the cork oaks are growing in europe, so it's obvios now, I was in the beautiful country of Portugal.
Ich freue mich, das mein kleines Ratespiel so gut angekommen ist. Einige von Euch waren so gut, dass Sie von Beginn an richtig gelegen haben, was mich beeindruckt hat. Bevor ich nun zu den Bildern komme, die zu offensichtlich sind, werde ich heute die Auflösung präsentieren.
Das, was mir als erstes aufgefallen ist, als ich ins Landesinnere gefahren bin waren die Wälder, die so anders aussehen als die, welche ich aus meiner Heimat kenne.
Es gibt auch Wälder, die eher als Plantagen zu betrachten sind. Doch oftmals sieht es so aus wie hier. In weitläufigem Gelände stehen einzelne Bäume oder kleine Gruppen auf trockenem Boden mit roter Erde. Zwei Arten von Bäumen prägen diese Wälder, die Pinien und die Korkeichen und verleihen der Landschaft ihr unverwechselbares Aussehen.
Da Ihr bestimmt wisst, wo die meisten der Korkeichen in Europa stehen ist nun klar wo ich war, im wunderschönen Portugal.

The Vasco da Gama bridge in Lisbon was standing high on my bucket list. The sunrise here, on this with a length of 17,2 kilometer longest bridge in europe, what really seem not to end at all, was beautiful.
From the city, you don't realise much here. Besides of the wind and the sound of the waves in the river Tejo, you only hear the jogger passing by behind you and from the distance the cars crossing the bridge. It’s a good way for the start of the day.
Die Vasco da Gama Brücke in Lissabon stand ganz oben auf meiner Wunschliste. Der Sonnenaufgang an der mit 17,2 km längsten Brücke Europas, die wahrlich kein Ende zu nehmen scheint, war wirklich schön.
Von der Stadt selbst bekommt man hier wenig mit. Neben dem Wind und dem Gesang der Wellen im Fluß Tejo hört man nur ein paar Jogger, die hinter einem vorbei kommen und von weitem die Autos, die die Brücke überqueren. Das ist eine gute Art in den Tag zu starten.
