My contacts tell me this is a Brandt's Cormorant with a gorgeous blue eye!

This Cormorant stood on the edge of the dock sunning himself and wasn't concerned at all that I was taking his photo. The crop is very minor.

When I looked at this Cormorant, his feathers looked more like fur than feathers, which is better seen in the original size.
And his feet are down. I think he had just shaken off some water (see the shot below) and was trying to get back in flying position.

Many of my Flickr friends comment on the weather; however, the folks along the coast in S. California rarely mention the weather. That's because our weather doesn't change that much - we stay between 60 - 70 degrees most of the year. This makes it quite comfortable, but sometimes our cold Pacific ocean creates a marine layer of overcast skies. And that's been the case for the last several days now. The overcast skies have throttled my shutter speed, so I'm looking for sun!

This song is the first thing that came to mind when I posted this shot of this Cormorant, so that's why the title!
Something's at the edge of your mind, you don't know what it is
Something you were hoping to find, but your not sure what it is
Then you hear the music and it all comes crystal clear
The music does the talking, says the things you want to hear
I'm young, I'm wild, and I'm free
I've got the magic power of the music in me
I'm young, I'm wild, and I'm free
I've got the magic power of the music in me
