Sometimes birds can come too close and this was the case of the Black-necked Stilt. Usually Stilts are leery of me. However, I had been standing around a while so I think they realized I wasn't going to harm them and accepted my presence.
I wanted to get the reflection, and I have many shots where I cut off the top of the head. But in this shot, every thing came together. It's full-frame.

Morning June-gloom has arrived as predicted in S. California. So you might be seeing white skies in most of my June shots. Fortunately, the overcast weather does not deter the birds, and I was able to get several Stilt shots in flight. Two are posted - the top shows wings up and the first in the comment box shows wings down. (I had it the opposite way, but several people said they preferred wings up, so I changed it.)

Some birds are so graceful both in and out of the water. The Black-necked Stilt is one of those birds. This is a full-frame shot - better enlarged.

This is a full-frame shot. The Stilt came right up to me, so close that I needed to back up. Animals do communicate in their own way.

I've been able to get shots of Black-necked Stilts in flight but not full frame with the subject is large in the frame. I finally got one yesterday. Like Killdeer, they are really fast.
