I've been pining away for a Bald Eagle for sometime. They are very few and far between in S. California, so I had to go to Florida to find one!

Florida has a high concentration of Eagles and we were fortunate to see several during our brief visit to Florida.

In this shot, one of the parents is landing near their nest. The other parent is perched next to the nest which is complete with two small Eagles who soon will be flying.

Please know that I was at a great distance from the nest, behind a fence next to a road. This has a large crop.

I was very careful not to disturb the nesting activity when I took this shot. I was next to my car by the road and behind a fence. I shot with a 2x teleconverter and a 500 mm lens (1000 mm).

I am posting some baby shots this week. This is a shot I took in March from the road, behind a fence, with 500mm lens and 2X teleconverter - making the shot 1000mm. The Eagles did not seem to notice my presence so I do not believe I disturbed the nest.

I read that by three weeks Eaglets are one foot tall and their talons and beaks are very nearly the size of an adult, so I'm guessing this Eaglet is about three - four weeks old.

I was able to get several shots of this Bald Eagle at fairly close range while in Florida, so the crop is minor. You can see more of his detail if you click on the shot.
