Last year, I saw several posts of this bright red bird, but I never saw it. Then, a couple of days ago, I spotted it catching flies, but the day had a lot of moisture in the air and it was gloomy. I would like to see this bright bird on a bright day ... next time!

Bobcats have been on my wishlist for sometime and yesterday my wish came true: I had my first encounter with a wild Bobcat.
Like Coyotes, Bobcats really don't want to have anything to do with humans, they just want to get away. And that's exactly what this Bobcat did when he spotted me. He trotted away. I have lots of rump shots, but fortunately for me, he turned this once and I got this shot. I was thrilled to say the least!
Not much of a crop. Much better Fullscreen on black.

I knew a Thrasher was nearby by her loud song; no bird that I've ever heard sings like this. So I searched and found her singing away. However, if you want to hear her you must visit California or Baja California for she's only found here.

I need to clean up my external hard drives. I just take too many photos. But when I go back to delete some shots, I never get very far: I seem to like too many and start to process them. This was one of those shots.

Cinnamon Teals are such beautiful ducks, and I've taken many shots of them, usually from such a great distance that I haven't posted any of them.
Some ducks were sleeping nearby the pond where I was shooting today, and I was pleasantly surprised to see one was a Cinnamon Teal. I wanted to get some nice shots of him swimming so I decreased my shutter speed to 1/1250 to bring out more detail in the darker colors.
But then he decided to fly. They are so fast that I didn't have time to increase my shutter speed. I just got lucky that this was in focus. He's one pretty duck!
