I've really had a lot of fun feeding the Jays peanuts recently. Sometimes they come in so fast that I haven't yet retrieved my camera.
I took this shot as he was leaving the hot tub cover. The background color was drab and the setting was busy, so I blurred the background and added selective color. The bird and peanut are unchanged.

I've seen so many shots of Blue Jays with peanuts from my Eastern Flickr friends, I'd thought I try peanuts with my Western Scrub-Jay who likes to eat sunflower seeds from my bird feeder (that's quite a sight to see!).
Well, as soon as I put out the peanuts, the Scrub-jay saw them. Yum, yum! Not only did he go for them, but a crow and squirrel vied him for the booty. Two more shots follow, each showing his approach to the prize. I'm sure you'll see more of my new-found friend, now that I have peanuts!
Note: the colors are not souped-up. That's what he looks like.

Sometimes birds just come to you as though they are asking to be photographed. That was the case with this lovely American Crow.

A murder of Crows were playing in the updraft on the cliffs at Palos Verdes Peninsula.
I delighted in their antics and was having a wonderful time trying to get flight shots. It was very difficult as the wind increased their speed.
Here is an oncoming shot of one looking at me. He wanted to know what I was doing!
