My husband and I got a rare wildlife viewing opportunity when we spotted this American marten. Most people don't see one because it is an extremely nocturnal, small, solitary, tree dweller.

On the trail in the early morning to the Sequoias, when we first saw it, we questioned what it was from squirrel, to cat, to red raccoon. Only after we returned home did we find out it was an American marten.

Bobcats have been on my wishlist for sometime and yesterday my wish came true: I had my first encounter with a wild Bobcat.

Like Coyotes, Bobcats really don't want to have anything to do with humans, they just want to get away. And that's exactly what this Bobcat did when he spotted me. He trotted away. I have lots of rump shots, but fortunately for me, he turned this once and I got this shot. I was thrilled to say the least!

Not much of a crop. Much better Fullscreen on black.

I would love to see deer in my backyard; however, I live in a postage-stamp sized lot at the beach in S. California. Deer are no where to be found here. In fact, White-tailed deer are absent in California. They live east of the Rockies. So I was in for a treat in Arkansas when several would visit my friend's yard each evening.

What a pleasant surprise to come across this Coyote on the trail at Bolsa Chica. He didn't pay much attention to me, as you can see, as he walked through the fence. But I sure noticed him! I just love Coyotes.

Not much of a crop.
