The 5th October 2016 is the 100th Anniversary of the opening of the Trans-Siberian Railway, the longest railway in the world.
Back in the winter of 2000 I travelled from Poland by train to St Petersburg and then, after a short stay in Moscow I boarded the train that would take me across 6000km and 7 time zones and included home stays with various families along the way.
From -30Deg Celsius to the +30 Deg Celsius of my final destination in the Philippines......cold temperatures indeed but the warmth of welcome and the generosity I received from the Russian people will always have a place in my heart.
