Iris.

Two quick edits from the backlog for Mittwochsmakro this week, both of flowers from my garden earlier this year.

I guess this one is all about the shapes...

Thank you for taking the time to look. I hope you enjoy the images. Happy Macro Wednesday! :)

[Handheld in daylight.
Developed in Capture One for detail and to reduce the background.
Touched up in Affinity using Inpainting. Colours strengthened a little using Curves in LAB mode with reduced opacity.
Unsharp Mask and High Pass/Linear blend sharpening.
Dark vignette.]

There was a time when orchids were rare exotic houseplants. These days though they are two and sixpence an assorted dozen at the supermarket, at least for these common varieties.

But they remain beautiful and intriguing plants, and the flowers last for ages.

This one was a gift from family in Hong Kong that graced the fireplace with its beauty for some months last year. I think I was messing around with the camera and a macro attachment or something... it's a jpeg image rather than a raw one for some reason.

I tried a square crop concentrating on the twiddly bits. It's for this week's Macro Wednesday group offering and also for my monochrome 100x project.

The colour version is probably more attractive (I may publish this another time) but the mone creates an abstract feel which you may find interesting - and you may find a face too :)

Thank you for taking the time to look. I hope you enjoy the image. Happy Macro Wednesday and 100x :)

Another play with an image from the backlog, while away with the iPad. I think it's a Chrysanthemum bud from my garden (bright yellow).

This is monochromed and then toned with yellow/orange by using a Lens Filter adjustment layer.

A second one for the Macro Wednesday group and another in monochrome for my 100x project. The lack of colour was no great loss for this image, I think, as it's all about shapes and structures.

Thank you for taking the time to look. I hope you enjoy the image! Happy Mittwochsmakro and 100x :)

[Handheld in daylight.
Developed and processed just in Affinity Photo on the iPad.
The background was removed using Levels and also reducing green and cyan in the mono conversion.
A High Pass filter layer was blended using Soft Light which seemed to work well to bring out the detail. Also used UnSharp Mask for sharpening (and probably Clarity too lol - I can't remember :) )
The image was then toned using a Lens Filter adjustment which gives a stronger result than the Split Tone adjustment.

...but still loved.

This year my floral affections have been rather waylaid by the floaty allure of poppies. Paeonies (my first loves) have had to stand by with their images unprocessed and neglected...

But I still love them with a passion that will probably outlast my brief dalliance with the poppies. Such is the shallowness of instant attraction...

This, then, is an attempt at an apology to them. Taken in May in my garden the image is a reminder of the pink petalled profusion and heady scents that were as sensually seductive to the senses as ever.

For the Mittwochsmakro group today.

Thank you for taking the time to look. I hope you enjoy the passion in pink. Happy Macro Wednesday :)
